Green Finance

Green Finance Guide (GFG) for banks to promote environmental accountability, responsibility and transparency among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Myanmar is available.

The GFG was developed by the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) pre-Covid. The GFG was reviewed, updated and published under the purview of Prevent Plastics MyanmarEU SWITCH-Asia Programme. The review and update were conducted by Yever, assisted by WWF-Myanmar.

The guidebook deals with the Core Business Operation of the Green Finance Framework, specifically on Loan Evaluation which is considered the heart and soul of Green Finance. A comprehensive loan evaluation determines the potential project impact or outcome within the community where the project locates. For many banks, Green Finance is a relatively new product wherein banks need guidance in developing Green products and services. Accordingly, this guidebook also discusses Product Research and Development, an essential component under the Sustainable Management Action portion of the Green Finance Framework.
